Mazda SA retains sales momentum – July 2016

Mazda has retained the vehicle sales momentum built over the preceding months with a NAAMSA reported sales total of 949 units at the end of July 2016. It was also a record month for the volume selling Mazda CX-5 which sold 387 units in a single month. The CX-5 also achieved the highest dealer sales in the medium SUV segment with 381 dealer sales recorded for July 2016.

Mazda has grown January to July sales volumes by 64% with 2016 Year to Date sales totaling 7 261 units versus 4 694 units sold during the same period in 2015. This sales growth comes at a time where the South African vehicle market is down by 17%, the passenger car segment down by 20% and the total vehicle market down by 11% Year on Year compared to July 2015.

Mazda continues to achieve over 2.0% Market Share with July Market Share at 2.1%.

“We are pleased with the observed steady sales growth considering that Mazda does not sell into fleet and rental business. We are committed to our strategy of working towards dealer viability and profitability, and will continue driving enquiry to showroom floors, maintaining lean inventory and providing value offering in all Mazda car lines.” Comments Craig Roberts, Head of Sales at Mazda Southern Africa.
